A wonderful and pleasant surprise to read! Kate Wyland is a gifted writer and she knows her energy work well enough to write about it clearly, cleanly, so all readers can understand.The heroine is a Physical Therapist, but due to her husband's suicide, not long after she had worked on him, she no longer feels able or qualified to do her work on people. Horses and animals, yes. Her connection with them is what alerts her to changes and danger. The story takes off right from the start, is always interesting.
This is my first book from this author, but I look forward to reading all her works. If you like contemporary ranch, mystery and romance, you will enjoy Forewarning.

This one covered all the bases for me. It was well written with good flow and richly developed characters. The romance was heartwarming, and the suspense was breath-holding. With the continuing theme of love, compassion and commitment to animals, as well as a touch of the paranormal and alternative medicine for both animals and humans, it truly did have it all for me!
The blurred lines between psychic ability and training and the local attitudes toward Kasey Martin's skills interested me. I liked her feeling for horses and the animals and for the injured souls she came in contact with. Kasey is a nurturer, and has a special talent for healing, but sometimes her own conflicted past keeps her from seeing what's right in front of her. The mystery was secondary to the relationships but still suspenseful, and finding the answers made a good story.
I loved the charters in this book and hope Kate Wyland will bring them back in another book. I am not a fan of Romance, but love suspense. The romance was a minor part of this book. I have one small issue and that is it needs some editing. there are several words left out, wrong words or double words. Usually, I knock books down for this and if we could give half stars I would in this case, but I enjoyed the story and particularly the charter of Kasey enough not to in this case. Humans, horses, dogs and complementary therapies, my kind of heaven.
I enjoyed the unexpected twists and how well written Kasey's story is. The amnesia set up, conflict with a possible love triangle, and the suspense leading to who the villain is and why is fantastic. I will admit to skimming in a few spots concerning the healing abilities, but the story was too interesting to knock off a star because the pace was still about perfect and most people will love that detail which really wasn't overly done. I loved how confidently the author writes about horses and animals, and that, with couple of hot guys thrown in, made this book more than a 5 star for me.

Fascinating to me that my massage therapist does some work with energies and just before I found this book, I read an article in a local 'rag' about a woman who works with them. Fascinating....
I picked this up as a freebie when there were just a couple reviews and although the description was intriguing, I didn't realize it was a paranormal story. Had I known, I would have skipped it because I don't read that genre. Ever. When I discovered what it was, about 20% into the book, I decided to keep reading as it kept my interest and I was curious how it would play out.
Except for some missing words, it was well written and had a decent story line. The characters were likable, the setting was terrific, the author had good descriptions and the animals were lovable. I can't say I'll read more like it, but I was glad I stuck with this to see the outcome.
As a long-time horse fanatic, I was pleased to read a book in which the author is just as knowledgeable about horses (and didn't just do a lot of research). Aside from the great horsey-backdrop, Forewarning is a complex, well-written mystery with plenty of richly layered characters, each with their own emotional baggage. And then there is the healing aspect, which I found quite interesting and unique.
Overall, I'd recommend this book to anyone who like their mysteries with a bit of romance, complex human emotions, and on-the-edge of your seat finales. The horses and healing are free of charge -)
